In August 2022, during the Major League baseball trade date, Milwaukee Brewers made one of the more controversial transactions in the history of franchise. Despite the division, Brewers replaced the All-Star Closer Josh Hader for San Diego Padres for Robert Gasser, Esteury Ruiz, Dinelson Lamet and Taylor Rogers. At that time, he was considered a controversial trade, because they were not only brewers in the first place, but also could replace Hader next season, because he was still under the control of the club.
Instead, however, they decided to utilize its enormous commercial value and deal with it early. Many fans and players in this area blamed trade for sucking the wind from the club and the collapse of the tardy season of Milwaukee.
However, it paid off in the long run.
Milwaukee Brewers turned Esteury Ruiz into William Contreras

Of course, brewers will never be able to pay Hader for what he will look for in a free agency. Earlier, trading him early, assured that they received the best package for him while they could.
And although Rogers and Lamet did not last long in Milwaukee, Gasser became one of the band’s best youthful perspectives (despite the fact that he is no longer in August when he regains Tommy John’s surgery).
And although Ruiz was also not long for brewers after trade, his acquisition Milwaukee helped them find one of their best current players: William Contreras.
After the 2022 season, the breweries landed in Contreras in huge trade with three teams with athletics and Atlanta Braves. As part of the agreement, Milwaukee received Contreras from Atlanta and Joel Payamps from Athletics. Ruiz was the only player that Brewers had to include in the contract.
Of course, Contreras was incredible since landing from Milwaukee. In each of the two seasons, NL Silver Slugger won in Catcher in each of the last two seasons and took fifth place in NL MVP voting last year.
