2 Wisconsin Festivals That Are Perfect for Cheese Curd and Bloody Mary Lovers

August is the height of the fair and festival season, and if you want to treat yourself to something unique this weekend, check out these two Wisconsin festivals devoted purely to cheese curds and Bloody Marys.

Food Matches Made in Heaven

Some pairings are just meant to be. Peanut butter and jelly, salt and pepper, cheese curds and Bloody Marys – wait, what? If you live in, or frequently visit, Wisconsin you know that last pairing is a very real and delicious thing.

Wisconsin is well known for the magnificence of its cheese curds and Bloody Marys, so it only makes sense that two different festivals celebrate each one in all its glory, and BOTH of them are happening this weekend!

Wisconsin Festivals Perfect for Cheese and Alcohol Lovers

From pickles to olives, from strips of bacon to celery that would make a health nut weep tears of joy, the Bloody Mary in Wisconsin isn’t just a drink; it’s a masterpiece, and on Saturday, August 12, 2023, it will be celebrated at Milwaukee’s Blood Mary Festival.

The Bloody Mary Festival will take place at Henry Maier Festival Park in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and features everything a bloody lover craves; tons of unique Bloody Mary creations and other foods to taste and enjoy, fun photo ops, and even a dancing tomato! There are two tasting sessions taking place on Saturday, so check out the times and ticket options, here.

Now, let’s talk about one of my favorite things…cheese curds!

Imagine strolling through a fairground or field, your senses ambushed by the irresistible aroma of deep-fried cheese curds. It’s a carnival for your taste buds, a cheese lover’s utopia, and a lactose-friendly hug all rolled into one. You can experience all that and so much more at Curd Fest happening at Breese Stevens Field in Madison, Wisconsin on Sunday, August 13, 2023, from 2 to 6 p.m.

Fresh, squeaky cheese curds, fried cheese curds, vegan cheese curds, Curd Fest has them all. There’s also plenty of family entertainment including lawn games, cheese carving, a cheese curd eating contest, and even a cheese and whisky tasting. General admission to Curd Fest is free, but special packages are available for purchase. Get more info, here.
