Three former Wisconsin Badgers helped Indy Ignite is making history on Saturday, January 11. Two players and one coach are members of Indy Ignite, which is entering its inaugural season as a member of the Pro Volleyball Federation (PVF).
Three former Wisconsin Badgers are members of Indy Ignite
The Indy Ignite team is currently led by George Padjen, but one of his assistants is former Wisconsin Badgers volleyball player, Izzy Ashburn. On the field, former Badgers middle blocker CC Crawford and quarterback Sydney Hilley are teammates. They just missed crossing paths in college, but now they’re working together on Ignite.
Indy Ignite made history with its first victory
In front of a sold-out crowd at the Fishers Event Center, Indy Ignite did the trick, defeating the Orlando Valkyries in four sets. Indy lost the first set 13-25, but then rebounded to win the next three sets 25-19, 25-17, 25-21. This victory marked the first victory for the Indy Ignites in the PVF.
How did CC Crawford and Syndey Hilley fare?
CC Crawford started all four sets for Ignite and finished with four kills, one block, five digs and three assists. Setter Sydney Hilley was also a starter, recording 44 assists, 15 digs, four kills and one ace. Member Meneh Leketor paced the teams with 25 kills and Tealer Azhani 19.
