The Milwaukee Bucks made a miniature deal by signing power forward Ibou Badji, who previously played for the Portland Trail Blazers.
Michael Scotto from HoopsHype reported that the deal would lengthen and expand the Bucks’ defensive line, though it likely won’t be a regular transaction.
“The Milwaukee Bucks have agreed to a deal with Ibou Badji, league sources tell @hoopshype. Badji appeared in 22 games for the Portland Trail Blazers last season.”
Milwaukee Bucks sign former Portland Trail Blazers center
Badji signed a two-way contract with the Blazers in 2023 and appeared in 22 games for Portland. In those games, the 7-foot-1 Badji averaged 1.5 points, 2.3 rebounds and 0.9 blocks in 10.3 minutes per game. He shot 63.6 percent from the field.
The Senegalese center will only be 22 in October, so Badji still has a lot of development to do. He will have a chance to impress the Bucks during training camp.
While Scotto did not provide the exact nature of his deal with the Bucks, it is very likely an Exhibit 10 deal. That means he will earn $77.5K if Milwaukee decides to release him and he stays with Milwaukee’s G League affiliate for at least 60 days.
The Bucks frontcourt remains solid, with Giannis Antetkounmpo taking over as a power forward and Brook Lopez playing as a five. Milwaukee also has players like Bobby Portis and Anzejs Pasecniks, who signed a two-way contract earlier this offseason.
