Beaver Dam Pepper Festival

The Beaver Dam Pepper Festival celebrates the Beaver Dam pepper, which originated in Apatin, formerly part of Hungary. Its seeds came to Beaver Dam in the slow 1800s with Joe Hussli, a Hungarian immigrant, and the seeds were shared with friends and neighbors, passed down through generations to those who appreciate the pepper’s gentle flavor.

This year marks the 11th annual celebration, and the festival is partnering with Potosi Brewing Company for the second year to present their version of Beaver Dam Papper. Every Beaver Dam Pepper Festival, held the second Saturday in September, features apple and pepper pancakes, pepper pies, and of course, the original Beaver Dam Pepper sausage. There’s live entertainment, the return of the chili cookoff, the longest pepper contest, pancake breakfasts served all day, pie by the slice, entertainment from Mr. Steve, and more!
