Two members of Wisconsin’s Lac du Flambeau Tribe charged with illegally hunting walleye

For the second time in as many spring harvest seasons, members of the Lac du Flambeau Chippewa Tribe have been cited for illegally hunting walleye in lakes located within ceded territory but outside the reservation boundaries.
According to a report released by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Quentin Charles Negani and Melvin Gate Labarge Jr., residents of Lac du Flambeau, were issued tickets for illegal fishing after they were stopped on private property Sunday evening.
May 13, on the west shore of Trout Lake in the town of Arbor Vitae. They had six walleyes in their possession, all taken by two men that night, according to the DNR. In addition to the illegal take, the men were issued citations for trespassing and timber theft.
