Milwaukee Breweries Opening day starting pitcher Freddy Peralta made his final start of the 2024 regular season on Wednesday, September 25 against the Pittsburgh Pirates. He finished by throwing 5.1 innings, allowing two hits, two earned runs, and striking out seven strikeouts. In that appearance, he also reached 200 strikeouts on the season and joined the low list of players in franchise history with multiple 200-strikeout seasons.
Freddy Peralta reached 200 strikeouts on the season against the Pittsburgh Pirates in his final start of the 2024 regular season.
Before his final appearance of the regular season, Freddy Peralta had 193 strikeouts. He finished with seven strikeouts and reached the 200-strikeout milestone. His first six strikeouts came quickly, but his last one required patience, as with two outs in the fifth inning, he walked multiple batters and allowed a leadoff double that gave the Pirates just two runs in the game. Peralta then came out in the sixth inning and struck out Bryan Reynolds, who singled in his ninth at-bat and Peralta’s 96th of the night.
Freddy Peralta is the fourth Milwaukee Brewers pitcher to reach 200 strikeouts in multiple seasons.
In franchise history, the only other Brewers pitchers with multiple 200-strikeout seasons are Teddy Higuera, Corbin Burnes and Yovani Gallardo. Ben Sheets, who has struggled with injuries throughout his career, has only had one 200-strikeout season (264), and his next closest season was 170 strikeouts. Brandon Woodruff currently has just one 200-strikeout season, as he falls 10 low of 200 in 2022.
