Milwaukee Brewers: Willy Adames leaves final game of 2024 regular season and receives a well-deserved standing ovation

Milwaukee Brewers shortstop Willy Adames is having a career year. He set personal bests in several offensive categories and is doing so in a contract year. History tells us that he landed a much bigger contract than the Brew Crew was willing to offer, so as he finished his final game of the 2024 regular season, the fans gave him a well-deserved standing ovation.

Willy Adames set novel single-season career highs in seven offensive categories.

2024 was a special year for Willy Adames. Only three other shortstops have historically had seasons consisting of over 30 home runs, over 100 RBI and over 20 stolen bases. Staying well and playing 161 games played a gigantic role this year, but here are the other six categories in which he set novel career highs: hits (153), walks (73), stolen bases (21), doubles (33), home runs (32) and RBI (112).

In the middle of the seventh inning, Brewers manager Pat Murphy removed Willy Adames from the game. Thanks to this, the fans had the opportunity to greet him with a standing ovation. His teammates also thanked him with a few hugs and handshakes.

Manager Pat Murphy planned for Willy Adames to leave in the middle of the inning.

Pat Murphy, the brewery manager, felt it was critical for fans to have a chance to hug Willy Adames and show him their gratitude. He did this by deliberately waiting until mid-round to eliminate him.

The Brewers will host the Wild Card Series, so Milwaukee fans will still have the opportunity to see Willy Adames at American Family Field during the playoffs. At the end of the season, he will become a free agent and will be the main choice among available agents.
