Wade Fernandez / Wiciwen Apis-Mahwaew (Walks with the Black Wolf) is a “deeply authentic”, award-winning, international performing artist and educator from the Menominee Nation, soaring around the world, hailing from the Menominee Indian Reservation. Having won numerous awards across multiple genres, Fernandez’s musical style knows no boundaries, and the same goes for his educational style. Launching his solo music career by joining Jackson Browne & the Indigo Girls on stage led to a long career spanning over 70 international tours, on rocking and soothing stages from Woodstock 94 to the Kennedy Center. His music and message are firmly rooted in the roots of the Menominee Reservation and his love for the land, animals and people. The passion for education, sharing music, serving the community, sharing culture and honoring Grandma Earth is reflected in Wade’s global presentations, speaking events, working with schools (k-colleges), workshops, serving the elderly, mentally disabled, incarcerated in prisons and youth.
