The Milwaukee Brewers will host the New York Mets in a best-of-three Wild Card Series. The first game of the series will be played on Tuesday, October 1, with injured starting pitcher Brandon Woodruff throwing the ceremonial first pitch. Franchise legend Jim Gantner will also be alongside him.

Last October, Brandon Woodruff underwent shoulder surgery to repair a torn anterior capsule. In overdue August of that year, he began taking down the mound. Although he won’t pitch for the Brewers this year, he will have the opportunity to throw out the first pitch in the Brewers’ 2024 home playoff opener.
Jim Gantner will throw the ceremonial first pitch along with Brandon Woodruff.

Per Adam McCalvy of MLB.com and Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Brewers legend Jim Gantner will also throw out the first pitch on Tuesday. Gantner, whose No. 17 has not been worn by another player since retiring in 1992, spent 17 seasons in Milwaukee and grew up in Campbellsport.
