The decline in participation in the Wisconsin ruffed grouse survey is not a surprise

Based on spring sage-grouse drumming counts, Wisconsin’s population of popular game birds has likely exceeded three years of the peak of the 10-year cycle.
According to Department of Natural Resources (DNR) biologist Alaina Gerrits of Woodruff’s office, preliminary drumming numbers are down 11% overall in sage grouse regions of the state.
