NFL officials fined Green Bay Packers coach Matt LaFleur $14,069 after he was assessed an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty tardy in the first half of his team’s 31-29 loss to the Minnesota Vikings in Week 5. NFL Network’s Tom Pelissaro.
LaFleur said officials told him he was being “too demonstrative” by trying to call a timeout after receiver Romeo Doubs was caught at the first-yard line with less than 30 seconds left in the first half.
On the play after a penalty, Jordan Love threw a 15-yard pass to Jayden Reed, helping eliminate the immediate impact of the offense. The score cut the Vikings’ lead to 28-7 at halftime.
Replays showed LaFleur attempting to call a timeout from the sideline. When he couldn’t get it, he started jumping up and down and shouting at the officials. Only then was the flag raised – unsportsmanlike conduct, 15 yards.
