Wisconsin Badgers: Purdue Boilermakers head coach Ryan Walters makes stunning postgame announcement

The Wisconsin Badgers’ entry into Saturday’s matchup with the Purdue Boilermakers was intriguing because they have yet to score 30 points in a single game this season. Wisconsin dominated Purdue and won by a final score of 52-6. With the victory, the Badgers improved to 3-2 on the season, while the Boilermakers dropped to 1-4.

It’s good that Wisconsin easily won this game against Purdue, because the Badgers aren’t the worst team in the BIG10 conference right now. There were some questions about them going into the matchup with Purdue.

Purdue Boilermakers head coach Ryan Walters claims bad football team after loss to Wisconsin Badgers

Last Sunday, Purdue fired offensive coordinator Graham Harrell. This didn’t change much for Purdue as they only scored six points in the game and the Boilermakers have much bigger problems than just their offense. After the game, he spoke with Boiler head coach Ryan Walters Sports Illustrated’s Dustin Schutte. Walters said at this point about his football team:

“The most disappointing thing is that, to be completely candid, we are a lousy football team at the moment. We lack discipline when it gets tight, we play with penniless technique when it’s our turn to make a play, we become reckless when we need to do something to make up for the loss. So yes, we’ll have something to think about on Sunday.”

In this game, the Purdue Boilermakers offense had only 216 yards of total offense and the Wisconsin Badgers had 589 yards of total offense. Wisconsin would love to be this productive on offense every week, and hopefully they can build on that while Purdue looks for answers.

Braedyn Locke shows signs of life after victory over Purdue

Wisconsin quarterback Braedyn Locke (18) throws downfield during the second quarter of a game against Purdue on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2024, at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison, Wisconsin.

Even though the Bpilemakers claim they are a bad football team right now, how about giving quarterback Braedyn Locke credit? He started at quarterback for the Wisconsin Badgers after Tyler Van Dyke was injured for the rest of the season.

Locke completed 20 of 31 passes for 359 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions. There were some great moments from him in that match, but there were also some bad decisions on his part in that match, but he will learn from it. As for Walters, if the Boilermakers can’t turn things around quickly, they will likely make a coaching change at the end of the season.
