The Milwaukee Bucks didn’t have a great start to their 2024 preseason campaign as they suffered a 120-87 loss at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit against the Detroit Pistons – the worst team in the NBA last season. The Bucks’ day was also marred by an apparent upper-body injury suffered by Gary Trent Jr. in the offseason.
By The official Bucks account on X (formerly Twitter).: :
“Gary Trent Jr. (left elbow hyperextension) will not return for today’s game.”
Trent, 25, injured his elbow while trying to break through a screen set by Pistons substantial man Jalen Duren in the second quarter. The former Duke Blue Devils star fell to the ground in pain before he was treated in the locker room. Currently, the Bucks are hoping that Trent’s injury is solemn enough to cost him regular-season games.
Trent, who previously played for the Portland Trail Blazers and Toronto Raptors, signed a one-year, $2.6 million contract with the Bucks last July.
The Milwaukee Bucks had trouble shooting, giving up goals in their loss to the Detroit Pistons
Before leaving the field, Trent scored five points in 13 minutes of action, hitting 2 of 3 shots from the floor, including a three-pointer. Bobby Portis led the Bucks with 16 points off the bench, and Damian Lillard scored 15 points.
As a team, the Bucks shot poorly, making just 30 of 86 field goal attempts for a 34.9 percent field goal percentage. They were also hurt by indigent ball protection, with Milwaukee turning the ball over 24 times.
