Madison, Wisconsin – The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is accepting art submissions for stamp design contests featuring wild turkeys, pheasants and waterfowl. The winning designs will be included in the 2024 stamp collection.
Each year, local artists from across Wisconsin compete for the opportunity to have their works of art historically commemorated on wild turkey, pheasant and waterfowl stamps.
Sales of these three stamps raise hundreds of thousands of dollars annually for species management across the state, including habitat management, restoration, education and research projects. Hunters are required to purchase tags to harvest these game birds.
The contest is open to anyone 18 years of age or older who resides in Wisconsin and is a U.S. citizen or lawful lasting resident. To be eligible, an entry must meet the technical requirements and entrants should carefully review the competition rules to ensure their entries are eligible.
The deadline for submitting stamp designs is July 15, 2023. Judging will take place on August 26, 2023 at the Waterfowl Hunters Expo in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.
The winner of the 2023 Wild Turkey, Pheasant and Waterfowl Stamp Design Contest was Sam Timm of Wautoma, who swept all three wild turkey, pheasant and waterfowl categories.
All stamp competition applicants should carefully read the competition rules to ensure their entries are appropriate. Works must meet technical requirements to be properly processed and prepared for evaluation and exhibition.
