On Monday morning, Major League Baseball announced its 20 nominees for the Hank Aaron Award.
Established in 1999 on the 25th anniversary of Aaron breaking Babe Ruth’s all-time career home run record, the award recognizes the top offensive players in each league. The winners are then selected by a voting committee through the Baseball Hall of Fame, and the winner is usually announced during the World Series.
This year Milwaukee Breweries‘very own William Contreras won a nomination in the National League.

The last time the Milwaukee brewer won the award was in both 2018 and 2019, when 2018 NL MVP Christian Yelich was named. Prince Fielder is the only other brewer to receive this award in 2007.
William Contreras has had a monster this season, quickly rising to the top as one of the best catchers in all of baseball. A three-way trade with the Atlanta Braves and Oakland Athletics in December 2022 would bring the catcher to 414. I think it’s sheltered to say Milwaukee clearly won in this trade.
Contreras made his second all-star appearance in 2024 and played an critical role in offensive production for the Brewers. When he’s not behind the plate, the offensive machine takes over the DH role and almost never takes a day off.
This season he played 155 of 162 matches and made 679 appearances. He finished the season with 23 homers, a slash line of .281/.365/.466 with an OPS of .831.
