I take a lot of people on my boat and I want them to participate as much as possible. They can choose baits from my collection of tackle, I will train them how to employ riggers, divers, planers and other equipment, and I will let them set up their own lines and baits, even if it takes more time.
If I think they can net a fish, unhook a bait, or steer a boat, I say, “Go ahead!” For them, it’s the difference between going fishing and being taken fishing.
The exception is when it’s time to tie the knot. I trust my nodes – I won’t automatically trust yours.
