On Thursday, October 10, the Milwaukee Brewers held their end-of-season press conference. Pitching was one of the topics of the discussion, with Robert Gasser, Aaron Ashby and Tobias Myers all mentioned. Below, learn more about how the team sees them now and what to expect in 2025.
Robert Gasser may not be ready to play for the Milwaukee Brewers until the second half of the 2025 season.
After making five substantial league starts in 2024, which included a 2.57 ERA and 28.0 innings, Brewers rookie pitcher Robert Gasser unfortunately had his season cut miniature when he was selected for Tommy John surgery. The 25-year-old was stabbed in overdue June, and during his season-ending press conference in Milwaukee, it was revealed that he had a “traditional Tommy John” and was expected to have a normal one-year recovery. At best, this means he may not be ready to return to the substantial leagues until the second half of the season.
Aaron Ashby could find himself in the starting rotation in 2025.
After initially struggling in a starting role, the Brewers moved Aaron Ashby to the bullpen in 2024. The result was increased speed, fewer walks, and better results. As a result, Ashby, who spent most of the season in the minor leagues, was named to the postseason squad. I can’t wait for the 2025 manager Pat Murphy doesn’t see Ashby as a late-innings reliever and believes he is involved in increasing the working hours of the pitching staff, which may include starting.
“If you ask me today if he should play this role at the end of the shift, I would say no. I would say he’s more of a candidate to throw more innings because his skill set is quite unique and diverse. This will be discussed, path. And it has to be player-driven. A player has to want certain things, or at least have a robust discussion about them.

Tobias Myers is the favorite to start 2025 in the starting rotation.
One of the positive stories from the 2024 campaign was the incredible return of rookie Tobias Myers. The 26-year-old rookie had a 3.00 ERA in the regular season and threw five no-hit innings in the Wild Card series. His success this season earned him a guaranteed spot in the starting rotation next year.
“I think he is determined. But he has to do it in the offseason. He has to come back, get that mentality back and get his arsenal back, which is not always basic.

Other topics discussed during the Brewers’ end-of-season press conference included Christian Yelich remaining as an outfielder, Sal Frelick eyeing third base in 2025, remaining open about trading Devin Williams this offseason and more.
