Shooting beyond 300 yards is great fun. Hitting targets at distances greater than 300 meters is even more fun. And you don’t need exorbitant rifles and scopes for this.
Sophisticated PRS (Precision Rifle Series) rifles and 6-30X56mm scopes are not mandatory. An venerable 1903 WWI Springfield military rifle came with an iron front sight adjustable to 2800 yards! It was chambered for the .30-06 cartridge and had a 150-grain, flat-base firing pin.
