Throughout the first six weeks of the season, the Green Bay Packers were lacking in passing yards. Devonte Wyatt, who has missed the last two games, leads the team with three sacks. Keisan Nixon has as many sacks (two) as Rashan Gary and Lukas Van Ness combined (two).
Before suffering a season-ending knee injury, Detroit’s Aidan Hutchinson recorded 45 pressures (via PFF). Gary, Preston Smith, Van Ness and Kingsley Enagabre combined for 28 pressures.
Considering Green Bay hasn’t had a great passing game and the 2025 NFL Draft is just 187 days away, let’s take a look at some players who may be on Brian Gutekust’s radar.
Brunch time: 11:00 Johnny Walker Jr, Missouri
Walker Jr. is a well-armed defender. He is a solid defender who is robust when attacking and provides a solid advantage. Combine that running durability with his quick first step, and the Missouri forward has a skill set that could make him an attractive target on Day 3 as teams look to add attacking depth.
Grab a beer: 2:30 p.m.: LT Overton, Alabama
The Texas A&M transfer recorded 25 pressures in his first six games at Alabama, including a nine-pressure game last week against South Carolina. Overton has excellent grip strength and power to get through blockers. He uses his long frame to support him get off the blocks and his engine is sizzling.
Evening Drink: 6:30 p.m.: Mykel Williams, Georgia
Williams has been dealing with an ankle injury and has played just 17 snaps over the last two weeks. If Williams can get up to speed today, he’ll face a tough test against Texas. The Longhorns have two offensive tackles on their books, and Kelvin Banks Jr and Cameron Williams could be drafted in the first round. At 6-5, 265 pounds, the former five-star recruit has the perfect frame. He is robust when attacked while running. With his size, speed and strength, Williams has the tools to become a devastating force as a pass rusher.
