Milwaukee Bucks: The shocking reason the team wants to trade Marjon Beauchamp has been revealed

In a few days, the Milwaukee Bucks will start the 2024-25 NBA season, where they will once again fight for the championship. With Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard, the Bucks certainly have the star power and talent necessary to compete in the Eastern Conference. Khris Middleton, if/when vigorous, is one of the best third options in the NBA.

In addition to the Big Three, Milwaukee signed key free agents, all on veteran-minimum deals, which improved their composition. Gary Trent Jr., who has shot 38/6% from three-point range in his career, is the team’s modern shooting guard, replacing Malik Beasley, who signed with the Detroit Pistons.

Signed Taurean Prince and Delon Wright to upgrade Milwaukee’s bench. Wright replaces Patrick Beverley as Lillard’s backup point guard, and Prince plans to take some minutes away from several team regulars who have favored Middleton in the past.

One player who will certainly see reduced playing time is former first-round draft pick Marjon Beauchamp. Last season, the G-League Ingnite player played in only 48 games (12.7 minutes per game) and averaged 4.4 points and 2.1 rebounds.

He shot 49/40/68 from the field.

According to Jake Fischer, the Bucks are looking to trade their 2023 first-round draft pick, who likely won’t see much of the court due to Milwaukee’s modern rotation on the bench.

“The Bucks have informed rival teams of Milwaukee’s early interest in trading MarJon Beauchamp, sources said. Beauchamp, a G League Ignite product, could help the Bucks on the defensive wing.” posted on Threads.

As mentioned earlier, Prince is the primary backup to the three behind Middleton. Pat Connaughton and AJ Green are likely to be the first two off the bench and will also mark Trent in games. In the current squad, Beauchamp is probably 15th out of 15 players, which means he will rarely get the opportunity to play.

The Milwaukee Bucks want to sign Thanasis Antetokounmpo

According to Keith Smith from Scoutthe reason the Bucks want to trade Beauchamp is to free up salary cap space to sign Thanasis Antetokounmpo.

Smith posted on X (formerly Twitter), Part of Bucks’ interest in trading MarJon Beauchamp (as Jake Fischer as we informed earlier) there is an opening of a place in the squad. Milwaukee is interested in re-signing locker room favorite Thanasis Antetokounmpo.

As fans know, Antetokounmpo’s older brother is out after tearing his Achilles tendon during practice this summer.

“Thanasis Antetokounmpo is expected to miss the season while rehabbing a torn Achilles tendon, but the Bucks and his brother Giannis Antetokounmpo value his presence in the locker room,” Smith added.

While it may not sound fair to Beauchamp, the fact is that he will never get the playing time he needs to continue to develop and improve in Milwaukee. The fifteenth player on the depth chart never plays beyond garbage time, during wins or losses.

Since Thanasis won’t be playing due to injury anyway, it makes sense that Milwaukee would be interested in making him the fifteenth player on the roster due to his aforementioned presence in the locker room.

Beauchamp, if sold, could go to a team where he has a better chance of getting playing time.

Unfortunately, it would also mean a continuation of Milwaukee’s streak of unsuccessful first-round picks.
