This week, Wisconsin football will have its highest viewership on Saturday nights. The Badgers will host third-seeded Penn State on their homecoming, and the crowd is expected to be sold out. Wisconsin, winner of the last three games, is playing its best football of the season at the right time. They are currently 5-2 and one win away from qualifying for a bowl. It will be a very tough task, but I think the Wisconsin football team can handle it. Here are the keys to a huge home win on Saturday night.
Braedyn Lock cannot turn the ball over
I think Braedyn Locke played really well in the last three games and it was definitely the best football of his college career. However, in the last three games he has thrown an interception in the first quarter. The Wisconsin football quarterback was able to defend against the terrible offenses he faced.
On Saturday, Locke can’t intercept the ball. Penn State’s offense is significantly better than Purdue, Rutgers and Northwestern. Whatever battle the Badgers lose on the field will be significant. Look for the Nittany Lions to put pressure on Locke and have the redshirt sophomore quarterback beat them.
Wisconsin’s defense needs to make Drew Aller uncomfortable
If you watch Penn State quarterback Drew Aller, you know he rarely makes mistakes and doesn’t throw the ball towards harm. He handles football very wisely.
Wisconsin football defensive coordinator Mike Tressel needs to be able to speed up the offense and make sure defenders and edge rushers have a way to get to Aller. This is a very experienced front seven and a group that has been playing much better over the last few weeks. If Aller has all day to throw the ball, this game won’t be decided. He is also at risk of playing the ball.
Wisconsin football should play loose and free
We will never know how the Wisconsin football team would have played against Alabama had Tyler Van Dyke not been injured. This match has nothing to do with it, but I want this team to play loose. They are definitely playing with a lot of confidence and belief. I think this allows the team to play loosely. It also means they could play a little more rigorously and expect the same result.
Everything was working on both sides of the ball for the Wisconsin football team. I believe this is what Luke Fickell wanted to see on both ends of the pitch when he took over the team. Everything looks neat and clear. The assumption is that Penn State will come to Madison and win this game. I think there will be more pressure on the Ohio State Nittany Lions, who will be attending State College next week. There is a real possibility that this is a trap for Penn State.
