The MLB Players Association announced the winners of its competition on Saturday Player selection rewards. While Aaron Judge and Shohei Ohtani were headliners, Rhys Hoskins of the Milwaukee Brewers was not the recipient of either, but two awards this season: Marvin Miller Person of the Year and Philanthropist of the Year.
Milwaukee Brewers first baseman Rhys Hoskins honored with two awards
The Marvin Miller Man of the Year Award is given to the player “whose leadership most inspires others to greater levels of achievement.” In a video made by the MLBPAHoskins mentioned the work he has done for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA). Hoskins will also receive a matching donation of $25,000 to the charity of his choice for winning the award.
Philanthropist of the Year Awardrecognizes the community service of individual players, celebrating their altruistic spirit and positive social impact beyond the diamond.”
Hoskins and his wife Janice have been very energetic in the community, hosting 100 families at a Brewers game this season, hosting MDA summer camps, social media campaigns and more.

Also notable is that Jackson Chourio was named a finalist for the NL Outstanding Rookie award, but that honor went to the Padres’ Jackson Merrill after his monster season.
