Former Wisconsin Badgers defenseman Montee Ball will be named honorary team captain today against Penn State. He may be the most underrated running back in college football history.
In 2011, Badgers quarterback Russell Wilson and quarterback Montee Ball both had a combined 40 TDs for Wisconsin. It was a magical season for the tandem that led Wisconsin to victory 11-3 a season that included a Big 10 title and a Rose Bowl bid. Montee’s stats and accomplishments with the Badgers
Badgers running back Montee Ball set NCAA records 83 total touchdowns and finished as a Heisman Trophy finalist in 2011 1923 yards and 33 touchdowns this year.
He then had another outstanding year in 2012, pushing forward 1830 yards from 22 touchdowns while earning All-American honors in both seasons. He contributed against Nebraska in the 2012 Big 12 championship game 21 he’s in a hurry 202 yards and Three tries.
Ball finished his Wisconsin career with a school-record sack 77 rushing touchdowns. He broke an NCAA record against Penn State in 2012 with a 17-yard touchdown pass. He won the Doak Walker Award in 2012.
Montee’s credentials that made his career legendary at Wisconsin
Former Wisconsin All-American Football player Montee Ball has been named to the 2025 College Football Hall of Fame inductee list. He is Wisconsin’s all-time leader in rushing touchdowns and total touchdowns and top three in rushing yards.
She had the ball 924 carries a 5140 the yards rush on 5.6 yards per carry and 83 total tries. He is one of the greatest Badgers of all time. One of the best running backs in college football history.
Montee’s NFL career with Denver and New England
Montee Ball was selected 58th overall by the Denver Broncos in the 2013 NFL Draft on April 26. His time in the NFL with the Denver Broncos was quite short-lived and disappointing, as were off-the-field issues and alcohol problems that made his stay quite miniature. He could only cope 731 rush yards from five touchdowns in two seasons before being released by the Broncos in 2015.
Ball’s woes continued after a very short-lived stint on the New England Patriots’ practice squad. The Patriots cut ties with Ball on Feb. 10, 2016, following legal issues that included an arrest for felony domestic violence.
