Wisconsin wildlife officials recently released thousands of public comments on the novel wolf management plan, with some calling for a statewide population limit to be restored and others calling for a total hunting ban.
The comments essentially reflected all sides of the long-running debate over how best to deal with growing wolf numbers in Wisconsin. DNR estimates released in September put the statewide population at more than 1,000 animals.
