Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love avoided a stern groin injury after Sunday’s win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, and the Packers also believe cornerback Jaire Alexander avoided a stern knee injury after Monday’s testing.
For Rob Demovsky of ESPNan MRI on Alexander’s knee showed no significant damage and there is still a chance he will be able to play on Sunday against the Detroit Lions.
Alexander appeared to be injured on the Packers’ last defensive play. He went for a pass thrown into the end zone, but tight end Evan Engram jumped in for the touchdown and Alexander hobbled on one leg behind the player.
Monday’s tests ruled out the worst-case scenario. Alexander, a two-time All-Pro, has two interceptions and leads the team in passes defensed through eight games in 2024.
When asked Monday, Matt LaFleur did not have any updates on Alexander. The Packers will not begin practice or release an injury report until Wednesday.
In addition to the good news about Love and Alexander, CheeseheadTV’s Aaron Nagler reported that Evan Williams has a chance to play against the Lions despite missing part of Sunday’s win with a hamstring injury, and SI.com’s Bill Huber reported runner Josh Jacobs is eligible to compete on Sunday after being checked for lower leg problems at the end of the win.
