Sections What to know from the Packers’ first injury report from Week 9 against the Lions

On Wednesday, the Green Bay Packers released the team’s first Week 9 injury report. The team will release two more injury reports, including a final injury report on Friday with official status indications ahead of Sunday’s matchup with the Detroit Lions.

Here’s everything you need to know from the Packers’ first Week 9 injury report:

— Seven players did not participate Wednesday: quarterback Jordan Love (groin), cornerback Jaire Alexander (knee), running back Josh Jacobs (ankle), center Josh Myers (wrist), left guard Elgton Jenkins (glute), left guard Rasheed Walker ( knee) and safety Evan Williams (hamstring). All seven are starters. Love, Alexander, Jacobs, Walker and Williams are all dealing with fresh injuries after Sunday’s win over the Jacksonville Jaguars.

— Coach Matt LaFleur said Love is on a daily basis and that he will have a full week to prepare for the game. A decision will probably be made during the match. Jacobs expects to play despite missing Wednesday’s practice.

— Jenkins played with a gluteal injury after missing Wednesday practice last week. Expect it to be available on Sunday. Walker has had a knee injury this season, but hasn’t missed a game.

— LaFleur said Williams felt something in his hamstring before last Sunday’s game but tried to ride it out. He left the game and did not return.

— Linebacker Quay Walker completed concussion protocol. On Wednesday, he was a full participant.

— Cornerback Corey Ballentine (ankle) returned to practice after missing last week’s win at Jacksonville. He was constrained.

— Linebackers Kenny Clark (finger/shoulder) and Devonte Wyatt (ankle) practiced on a constrained basis. Clark is still playing after a finger injury, but he suffered a fresh shoulder injury this week. The veteran needs a week to finally recover. Wyatt returned to action last week after missing three games.

— The Packers have removed cornerback Keisean Nixon (hamstring), wide receivers Jayden Reed (ankle) and Christian Watson (ankle) and defensive lineman Colby Wooden (knee) from the injury report for the start of Week 9. All of them are both recovering from past injuries.

— The Lions team was without 10 players at Wednesday’s training, but five were not injured and were considered “rested.” However, quarterback Jared Goff (ankle), left guard Taylor Decker (chest) and linebacker Malcolm Rodriquez (ankle) did not practice due to injuries. Defensive lineman Josh Paschal continues to struggle with an illness and is not practicing. The Packers are banged up, but Detroit’s team will also have a lot to monitor this week.
