Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love is expected to start Sunday’s game against the Detroit Lions after suffering a groin injury NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.
In their final health report, the Packers listed Love, who suffered a groin injury last Sunday at Jacksonville, as questionable to play. He practiced on a narrow basis this week on Thursday and Friday.
Coach Matt LaFleur said the Packers would give Love “until the game to see how he feels,” suggesting he would make a game-time decision. Pelissaro’s report indicates that Love and the Packers have already come to terms with his presence on the field Sunday.
Barring a loss on Sunday before the game, Love will start against the Lions, who have won five straight games and lead the NFC North 6-1. The winner on Sunday will take first place in the division entering week 10.
Love was injured during an extension early in the first quarter last week against the Jaguars. He played through the injury for about two quarters, but left the game after the first drive of the third quarter.
Love has thrown 15 touchdown passes and nine interceptions in six starts this season, the most in the NFL. Backup quarterback Malik Willis led the Packers to back-to-back wins over the Indianapolis Colts and Tennessee Titans while Love was sidelined with an MCL sprain and also engineered the winning run to beat the Jaguars last Sunday. Willis will be next in line if Love suffers a loss or has to miss Sunday’s game.
