Heading into the offseason, the Milwaukee Brewers front office was very busy. They have already announced decisions on several players, all of whom have been given vesting options for the 2025 season. They have also completed a trade with the Colorado Rockies.
Decisions regarding Devin Williams and Colin Rei were among several moves made by the Milwaukee Brewers this weekend
On the first weekend of November, the Brewers announced they were waiving their 2025 options on Devin Williams, Wade Miley, Gary Sanchez and Eric Haase. Those decisions made Miley and Sanchez free agents, while Williams and Haase remain under Milwaukee’s control via arbitration. Williams had a $10.5 million option for the 2025 season and is projected to earn $7.7 million in arbitration next year (according to MLB Trade Rumors arbitration projections).
It was also announced over the weekend that the Brewers had suspended Colin Rea. His club option for 2025 was for $5.5 million and a $1.0 million buyout. The waiver means the 29 remaining teams will have the opportunity to bid for him (priority based on reverse winning percentage), in which the claiming team will be responsible for his 2025 salary.
Owen Miller was traded to the Colorado Rockies
The Milwaukee Brewers also announced this weekend that they had traded Wisconsin native Owen Miller to the team Colorado Rocky Mountains. In return, the brewers received cash. Miller was removed from the Brewers’ 40-man roster in July, but remained with the organization, playing in their Minor League system.
Freddy Peralta exercised his 2025 option and Rhys Hoskins exercised his player option
So it’s no surprise that the Brewers picked up Freddy Peralta’s $8.0 million option for the 2025 season. Rhys Hoskins also exercised his $18 million player option and will be back for another season by the time of an offseason trade.
Next on the off-season agenda are GM Meetings. They will take place on November 5–7. Free agency will also open during this period.
