Freedom advances to the third tier of the playoffs after defeating Prescott

FREEDOM (NBC 26) – Freedom advanced to the third tier of high school football competition with a 43-14 victory over Prescott.

For Saturday afternoon’s game, Prescott drove more than 250 miles to Freedom High School. The Irish wasted no time, scoring a touchdown in the first minutes of the first quarter and increasing their lead to 28-0 after the first half.

Prescott found the end zone twice in the second half, but the Cardinals were unable to overcome the deficit.

Freedom head coach Charlie Jadin said he was pleased with the victory.

“The kids put in a lot of work,” Jadin said. “We control what we can control and we are lucky that the result turned out the way it did today. The kids played hard, performed at a high level and we’re moving on.”

Jadin added how special it was to host a Tier 2 playoff game.

Part of that was protecting our field, cultivating the awareness that this is where we are at, day after week, week after week, and not wanting it to end.

Freedom running back Nixon Heinke said the Irish play like a family.

“We play as a team and don’t leave anyone out,” Heinke said. “Honestly, we play for ourselves. That’s how it is.”

Heinke is excited about another week of training with his teammates.

“I thank God for this every day,” Heinke said. “I thank God for this. And my team, honestly, just put it all together today.”
