Green Bay Packers safety Xavier McKinney was not present for Tuesday’s practice and was added to the injury report as a non-participant due to a personal issue.
Coach Matt LaFleur said he expected McKinney to return Tuesday night and be available Wednesday.
The Packers will face the Miami Dolphins on Thursday night at Lambeau Field.
On Tuesday, LaFleur’s team made three other adjustments to the injury report: Kenny Clark and Elgton Jenkins were both full participants on transition after Monday’s rest, and Rasheed Walker (knee) was promoted to full participant.
Five players who were ruled out of action with concussions on Monday did not participate in practice again on Tuesday: cornerback Jaire Alexander (knee), linebacker Edgerrin Cooper (hamstring), receiver Romeo Doubs (concussion), tight end John FitzPatrick (back). and linebacker Isaiah McDuffie (ankle). It should be recognized that all five players are in danger of not playing in Thursday’s game against the Dolphins.
LaFleur said he has concerns about the depth at the linebacker position because both Cooper and McDuffie are dealing with injuries and only three other hearty linebackers are on the 53-man roster and practice squad. Veteran Jamin Davis was released from the Packers’ practice squad by the Minnesota Vikings on Tuesday. It’s possible LaFleur’s team will enter Thursday with only Quay Walker, Eric Wilson and rookie Ty’Ron Hopper as hearty defensemen.
LaFleur said Doubs was still concussed but was present on the sidelines during the transition.
Interestingly, Dolphins receiver Tyreek Hill also did not participate on Tuesday due to personal reasons. Like the Packers, the Dolphins took a walk Tuesday. Miami added reserve Patrick McMorris to the injury report with an ankle injury.
