Michigan may relinquish its title as host of the largest deer harvest in the Midwest after releasing the results of the state’s first mandatory deer reporting system.
According to statistics compiled by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, Wisconsin hunters reported killing 331,805 deer in 2022 in a season that was considered quite good. Wisconsin firearms hunters in particular had reason to celebrate, killing 14% more deer during the Nov. 19-27 season than in 2021.
