The Milwaukee Brewers have never been, and likely never will be, a massive spender in free agency. While fans are understandably frustrated by this fact, it is the smallest market in all of baseball. As a result, brewers are always looking for low-cost remediation projects that can have a positive impact on their season.
One example was Jared Koenig last season. The former Oakland Athletics and San Diego Padres forward struggled in the minors and in his only Major League appearance in 2022. This year in Oakland, Koenig was 1-3 with a 5.72 ERA and 1.40 WHIP in 10 appearances.
The Brewers signed Koenig to a minor league contract last year along with an invitation to spring training. It worked out well for both sides, as Koenig became a key figure in Milwaukee’s bullpen this year, going 9-4 with a 2.47 ERA and 1.24 WHIP in 55 games (six starts).
Milwaukee Brewers sign 3 minor league players to minor league contracts
Milwaukee, as always, is looking for another reclamation project that they can sign on budget-friendly and turn into a solid one Major League collaborator. Of course, not every player they sign works out, but Brewers always do their due diligence.
On Monday, it was announced that they had signed three more minor league players:
What do you think about the stimulating prospects from five years ago?
Because the Brewers are still signing them to minor league contracts this winter. The team announced that following the signing of Deivi Garcia, pitcher Jon Duplantier and outfielder Jared Oliva joined the team today.

In addition to Jon Duplantier and Jared Oliva, the Brewers reunited with Thomas Pannone, a left-handed pitcher who made one appearance for Milwaukee in the 2023 season. He spent last year’s split with the Triple-A lineups of the New York Yankees and Chicago Cubs.

The signing of Jon Duplantier is intriguing. He is a former MLB Top 100 prospect but has never made it at the Major League level.
Duplantier last appeared in the Majors in 2021 with the Arizona Diamondbacks. In four games (all starts), he went 0-3 with an ERA of 13.15 and a WHIP of 2.01.
That bad cup of coffee at the Big League club was enough for the Diamondbacks to give up on the newborn hurler. As of 2022, he plays in the Los Angeles Dodgers, Philadelphia Phillies and New York Mets farm systems.
Jared Oliva is an above-average defensive outfielder who couldn’t hit at the Major League level. In 26 games with the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2020 and 2021, Oliva hit .175/.233/.225 with no home runs and two RBIs.
He spent last season playing for the Seattle Marniers’ Double-A team, hitting .294/.378/.463 with seven home runs, 40 RBI and 37 stolen bases.
