Tips for tracking enormous muskies in delayed fall

Cooling waters in the fall encourage muskies to feed so they can bulk up for the coming winter. For avid muskie anglers, there may be no better time to seek out the giant fish.
To achieve greater success, two Northwoods guides who consistently land their clients on huge muskies encourage anglers to be cautious and precise with their presentations. Both guides mainly favor fishing with live bait, namely fast-striking suckers.
“There is very little ship traffic and I love the peace and quiet on the lakes. We have the opportunity to catch the biggest fish of the year,” said Rob Manthei, a guide in the Vilas/Oneida County region in northern Wisconsin.
