NEENAH (NBC 26) – Neenah’s Grant Dean has signed his national letter of intent to play football at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
As a running back, Neenah Dean finished his career with 3,420 rushing yards and 44 touchdowns. He will play it secure in Wisconsin.
Dean plans to gain an advantage as a Badger, so he signs up early.
“We’ll move in on January 11, and then we’ll have a welcome week and choose activities,” Dean said. “From this point on, we’ll be lifting weights and working out and doing all that stuff.”
Dean hopes to get a head start by getting there in January.
“It’s a huge achievement because if you don’t get that push, you’re going to have to learn the ropes in the summer and you’re kind of going to be behind,” Dean said.
Until then, he absorbs every moment, including the day of signing the contract, when he is surrounded by family and friends.
“That’s the reason I’m here,” Dean said. “I wouldn’t be here without all this support. Everyone who was a part of it influenced me and it’s because of them that I was able to sign today.”
Although Dean verbally committed to heading to Wisconsin in April 2024, he said he was relieved to officially sign the deal.
“It’s surreal that I finally got it in ink and had everyone supporting me,” Dean said. “I’ve wanted to do this since I was a kid, and to finally do it is the best feeling in the world.”
