The Atlanta Hawks poured frosty water on the NBA’s hottest team on Wednesday, defeating the Milwaukee Bucks, who entered the game on a seven-game winning streak. Dr. Rivers, however, is unfazed.
The Bucks simply weren’t present in this game as the home team had previously lost in every quarter summing everything up at 119-104.
Damian Lillard and Giannis Antetokounmpo were as reliable as ever with 25 and 31 points, respectively.
The loss came a day after the Bucks appeared to have convinced themselves they no longer had any problems.
That’s what head coach Doc Rivers said there was no panic in them when they were 1-7 to start the season.
No, no. Zero. Our panic meter and everyone around us showed zero and that’s how it always has been,” Rivers said in an interview with Yahoo! Sports after the NBA Cup victory over the Detroit Pistons.
Lillard felt the same way.
Frustration, but not panic,” he said. “We had a good camp. Everyone came in good shape. We were ready, but things didn’t work out right away. There was frustration, but there was no fear.”
Should the Milwaukee Bucks start panicking again after the Hawks loss?
After the Hawks’ loss, a recurring problem for the Bucks resurfaced. Bench.
Delon Wright and Bobby Portis each scored just six points and were the talk of the town among Bucks fans during their run on the roster.
One way that panic manifests is when they start asking to be traded for better players. Should they do this?
Rivers isn’t worried. He believes their listless performances are due to this they play one after the other.
“I thought we played without the ball for most of the game. We weren’t thinking well, which is a direct sign of fatigue. It didn’t work out very well. Our passes were really late,” he said, as quoted by Eric Nehm of The Athletic.
After the defeat, the Bucks remain in fifth place in the Eastern Conference table. Next up are the Boston Celtics, who have already beaten them twice this season.
