The Wisconsin football team continues to release player information through the transfer portal. Wisconsin had its season-high five players enter the portal on Tuesday, just two days after two defensemen, led by edge rusher Leon Lowery Jr., left the program. Wednesday was quieter, although budding star Trech Kekahuna jumped into the portal. On Thursday, the Wisconsin Badgers announced that another player, a defensive lineman, had joined the team Hank Weberwill go to the transfer portal.
Brewer, a three-star recruit in the 2024 class, is the fourth defensive lineman to leave the Wisconsin football program last week. He is also the first member of the 2024 recruiting class to enter the transfer portal.
Wisconsin football rookie enters the transfer portal
According to Jesse Temple of The Athletic:
Wisconsin defensive lineman Hank Weber to transfer portal. He is the first member of the 2024 recruiting class to depart. So far, 12 scholarship recipients have arrived at the Badgers website.
Hank Weber is now the 12th scholarship player to leave the Wisconsin football program after the end of the regular season last Friday. The Wisconsin Badgers went 5-7 this season, marking their worst season since 2001 and ending a 23-year bowl streak. As for Weber, he was a member of the 2024 recruiting class, the first under current head coach Luke Fickell.
Weber, a 6-foot-4, 275-pound defensive lineman, played high school football at Brentwood Academy, helping it to the 2023 Tennessee Division II-AA title. He was a three-star recruit and had offers from Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Michigan State, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Notre Dame, Ohio State and Tennessee. He did not record any statistics this season.
Wisconsin continues to hemorrhage transfers
Like most teams that don’t qualify for the playoffs, Wisconsin football continues to have transfer issues after the season ended last weekend. Thursday’s first transfer, freshman Hank Weber, has not played for the team this season. However, fellow transfers Trech Kekahuna, Curt Neal and Leon Lowery Jr. They played significant games this year.
Kekahuna, a sophomore, has 25 receptions for 339 yards and two touchdowns this season. Meanwhile, Neal and Lowery each had 29 tackles for a combined four TFL. Wisconsin lost 12 players to the transfer portal and is still awaiting its first upcoming transfer.
