His father’s treasured aged rifle lives on in the Duren family’s hunting tradition

As a kid who started hunting in the tardy 1960s, I knew men and friends who carried aged locks like the Springfield M1903-A3, .303 British, .30-40 Krag, and 8mm Mauser. Some of them were original military rifles, still equipped with bulky wooden stocks and overly long barrels.
