The Milwaukee Breweries, like many baseball teams, signed several minor league players to contracts in the offseason. Jared Koenig is an example of an asset who joined the team in a deal with MiLB and made a huge impact on the gigantic league club. Another player they acquired was Brewer Hicklen, who currently plays in Triple-A.
Brewer Hicklen signed a minor league contract with the Milwaukee Brewers in November 2023.
Milwaukee is the third organization that outfielder Brewer Hicklen is a part of. He was originally drafted in the seventh round by the Kansas City Royals in 2017, had a cup of coffee in the gigantic leagues in 2022, and was traded to the Philadelphia Phillies for cash in 2023. He was selected for free agency at the end of last season. and the Brewers signed him to an invitation to gigantic league camp during spring training.
Power and speed are Brewer Hicklen’s two strengths.
Brewer Hicklen posted some eye-catching numbers in the minor leagues. From 2018-2022, he posted seasons of 35, 39, 40 and 35 stolen bases. He also had 28 home runs in 2022 and 30 doubles. The downside is that his strikeout percentage is typically in the 28-33 percent range, and in 2022 it peaked at 36 percent.
Brewer Hicklen is off to a monster start to the 2024 season in Triple-A.
After appearing in 17 spring training games for the Brewers, they elected to start the year with the Triple-A team. He doesn’t have a 40-man roster and has plenty of talented outfielders blocking his path to the gigantic leagues. However, he started the year powerful as he hit .283/.396/.586 in 152 at-bats, 11 home runs, 9 doubles, 35 RBI and 18 stolen bases.

In terms of rankings, Brewer Hicklen currently ranks among other International League players: 18 stolen bases (3rd), 11 home runs (T-7), 35 RBI (T-8), .979 OPS (10th).
