Packers sections sign former Browns edge rusher to training contract

On Wednesday, the Green Bay Packers added forward Jeremiah Martin to the practice squad.

Martin (6-3, 265) was not selected in Washington’s 2023 draft. He spent the last two seasons training camp with the Cleveland Browns and also played for the New York Giants from January to May this year.

Over three preseason games with the Browns in 2024, Martin had two pressures (including a sack) and three stops while playing 58 snaps. He also missed two tackles and had a penalty kick.

During his final college season at Washington, Martin recorded 8.5 sacks, 11 tackles for loss, two forced fumbles and a pass deflection in 13 games. He spent his first three seasons at Texas A&M before transferring to Washington for the 2021 and 2022 seasons.

While out of college, Martin ran a 40-yard dash in 4.9 seconds, had a vertical jump of 35.5 inches and a broad jump of 9-11, completing the three-cone exercise in 7.09 seconds – those are pretty good numbers for a player of his height.

Martin joins Deslin Alexandre as the only edge rushers on the Packers’ practice squad.

To make room for Martin, the Packers had to lose a player from the practice squad on Wednesday. On Monday, the Packers added veteran offensive lineman Michael Jordan to the practice squad and released offensive tackle Spencer Rolland.
