Milwaukee Bucks: Pace Mode Brook Lopez joins Hakeem Olajuwon on exclusive list

The Milwaukee Bucks are 13-11 on the season, which is a remarkable feat considering they started the year 2-8 and at one point went on a six-game losing streak. In the early downturn, only superstars Damian Lillard and Giannis Antetokounmpo seemed to be playing well, and even they were still working to find the best way to play together.

Fortunately for Milwaukee, the Bucks were able to turn things around. Giannis and Dame have become one of the most dominant duos in the NBA, and their players have started shooting with greater consistency.

There is one player in the middle who has improved offensively since the beginning of the season Brook Lopezwho is currently averaging 11.0 points on 47/36/71 shooting from the floor.

However, it is his defense that once again has the biggest impact on the team.

Milwaukee Bucks Center Brook Lopez could do something that has never been accomplished since Hakeem Olajuwon

Lopez, who is in his seventh season with the Bucks, is currently averaging a career-high 1.1 steals per game. His average is 2.1 blocks per game, which ranks third in the NBA.

What’s amazing about these particular averages is that Lopez is 36 years elderly.

In NBA history, only one player of his age averaged at least 1.0 steals and 2.0 blocks per game in a single season: Houston Rockets legend Hakeem Olajuwon.

Also in his age 36 season (1998–99), “The Dream” averaged 1.6 steals and 2.5 blocks per game. This was actually the 15th straight season in which Olajuwon achieved both of these averages (it was also his last).

Before this season, the most steals per game Lopez had averaged in a single season was 0.8, which he achieved in 2015-16 with the Brooklyn Nets.
