I don’t know the secret to creating a hunter, trapper or fisherman, but the key to the failure of these goals is a mother who doesn’t take her children to the woods or to the water and doesn’t cook what they bring home.
Fortunately, my mother complimented every bass, bluegill, crappie and bullfish I brought home from Lake Mendota in Madison in the behind schedule 1960s and early 1970s. Mom was more averse to the squirrels and game I brought home, but neither of them suffered freezer burn.
