Green Bay Packers coach Matt LaFleur provided an update on the health of several players following Sunday’s victory over the Seattle Seahawks. The Packers don’t officially practice this week until Thursday, and Monday’s game against the New Orleans Saints is in Week 16, so the first injury report of the week won’t be released for another two days.
On center back Quay Walker, who suffered an ankle injury in Seattle and missed the second half: “We’ll give him a full week to see where he’s at, but I’d say it’s more of a week-to-week deal.” Last week, LaFleur said something similar about defensive back Javon Bullard and missed the win in Seattle. Edgerrin Cooper, Eric Wilson and Isaiah McDuffie would handle most of the snaps at linebacker if Walker couldn’t play against the Saints.
On Bullard, who suffered an ankle injury in Detroit and didn’t play last week: “We’ll see. We have to get him on the field and see how he moves. He definitely moves around the facility better, but that doesn’t mean you can go out and play football. Without Bullard, the Packers used Keisean Nixon against the Seahawks.
On Jordan Love limping or feeling pain after making an off-schedule play in the second half: “He should be fine. He got shot (hit) in the thigh or something. Love didn’t miss a single game-ending snap. LaFleur didn’t expect any restrictions this week.
The Packers could have running back MarShawn Lloyd back from the non-football illness list this week. Tight end Luke Musgrave is expected to return from injured reserve – he practiced on a narrow basis last week and could be activated at any time.
The Saints are dealing with several solemn injuries. Quarterback Derek Carr is not expected to play and quarterback Alvin Kamara suffered a groin injury in Sunday’s loss to the Washington Commanders. The Saints will be without receiver Chris Olave, tight end Taysom Hill, cornerback Paulson Adebo and receiver Rashid Shaheed, who are all playing on injured reserve.
