Green Bay Packers coach Matt LaFleur confirmed that starting offensive lineman Jordan Morgan will miss the rest of the 2024 season with a shoulder injury that has persisted since August and has kept him out of the final five games.
“Yes, he’s done for the year,” LaFleur said Matt Schneidman of The Athletic.
Morgan, who was recently selected with the 25th overall pick in the 2024 draft caught training in a sling. He is currently on injured reserve.
LaFleur didn’t confirm it in detail, but it’s possible Morgan needed surgery to fix the problem, which dated back to August.
Morgan first suffered a shoulder injury during training camp, which prevented him from earning the starting right-back job. He then aggravated the injury in Week 2 and missed the next three games. After starting his first career game and playing all 65 snaps against the Detroit Lions in Week 9, Morgan injured his shoulder for the third time during practice on November 14 and has not played since.
Morgan appeared in six games, including one start as a rookie. He was on the field for 186 snaps – mostly as a rotation player with Sean Rhyan at right guard.
The Packers have four of their five preferred offensive line starters under contract for next season, with center Josh Myers being the only exception. Both Rasheed Walker and Zach Tom are having forceful seasons at forward, leaving Morgan – who primarily played left wing in college – to re-apply for an interior job in 2025.
Without Morgan through the end of 2024, Andre Dillard, Kadeem Telfort, Travis Glover and Jacob Monk will be the top backups on the offensive line through the end of 2024. Monk, a fifth-round pick, has been a solid presence over the last four games.
