Joe Ross signed a Major League contract with the Milwaukee Brewers ahead of the start of the 2024 season. This contract came as something of a surprise as he had previously last played in the large leagues in 2021. The season ended with him rebounding, he became a free agent at the end of the season, and now he returns to the NL East as he signed with a rival team in that league.
What happened to Joe Ross in 2022–2024
In total, over six seasons with the Washington Nationals, Joe Ross posted an ERA of 4.26. He opted out of the 2020 season and then pitched 108 innings for the Nationals in 2021. Unfortunately, he missed the field in 2022 after undergoing Tommy John surgery and a year later in 2023, he appeared in just 14 minor league innings.
Joe Ross had a good season in 2024 with the Milwaukee Brewers
Despite a three-year break between large league appearances, the Milwaukee Brewers signed Joe Ross to an MLB contract last winter. His first 10 games last year were the first start in which he had an ERA of 4.98. A back injury then cost him three months during which he operated out of the bullpen, ultimately finishing the year with an ERA of 3.77 in 77 innings.
The Philadelphia Phillies have signed Joe Ross
After the takeover Jesus Luzardo previously via trade, Philadelphia Phillies Joe Ross later added to strengthen the pitching depth. Ross showed last year that he can work as both a starter and reliever, and in 2025 he is expected to play as needed.
Sources say the Phillies have agreed to a one-year deal with right-hander Joe Ross @TheAthleticMLB.
Ross would serve as a swingman for the Phillies. Last season, his ERA in 74 innings for Milwaukee was 3.77.
