As expected, Wisconsin basketball crushed the Detroit Mercy Titans on Sunday. The Badgers were simply too mighty for the Titans as Greg Gard’s team won 76-53 at the Kohl Center in Madison, Wisconsin.
The frontcourt duo of sophomore forward Nolan Winter and senior Steven Crowl gave everything they had for the Badgers, scoring 18 and 15 points, respectively, while also combining for 15 rebounds and two blocks.
“I thought those two great players were good and effective,” Gard said after the Wisconsin basketball team’s victory (h/t Mike Hall of Badgers Wire). “We didn’t shoot that three very well, but I thought we looked really good and did a lot of good things defensively, trying to keep the ball out most of the time. They only had one basket at the rim in the first half. Overall, quite a blue-collar job.
Wisconsin basketball demolishes Detroit Mercy in the Badgers’ final game of 2024
The Badgers made life complex for Detroit. Wisconsin had 50 rebounds to just 34 by the Titans. Wisconsin shot just 40.6 percent from the floor and made just seven of 35 attempts from beyond the arc, but the Badgers had plenty of second chances, grabbing 16 offensive rebounds.
The Badgers, who rank 15th in the country with an adjusted offensive rating of 120.0, are currently 10-3 overall and will next face the Iowa Hawkeyes on Jan. 3 at the Kohl Center.
