Jacob Nottingham was acquired by the Brewers in 2016 in the trade that sent Khris Davis to the Oakland Athletics. He made his MLB debut with Milwaukee in 2018 and by 2021 had exhausted his options in the minor leagues. This led to the Seattle Mariners claiming his release on April 28, 2021. However, shortly after this trade, the Brewers faced a roster issue when Omar Narvaez was placed on the injured list, prompting Milwaukee to trade again to the Nottingham 2 May. 2021 in exchange for cash. After Narvaez’s return, Nottingham was placed on leave again, and on May 20, 2021, the Mariners reported to him for a second time.
