Can the Milwaukee Bucks accommodate another defenseman? If so, Bruce Brown Jr. may be available.
Brown Jr., a member of the 2023 title-winning Denver Nuggets, is still recovering from an injury, but his current team, the Toronto Raptors, have made him available for a trade.
The 180 cm elevated defender has not played a single match yet this season because he is still rehabilitating his knee, which underwent surgery in September this year.
Brown is known for his three-point shooting and athleticism as the designated defender of opposing point guards.
Sports Illustrated’s Matt Levine suggested the Bucks trade for him. However, a team from Wisconsin will pay a high price instead – their long-time center, Brook Lopez.
The writer said:
Brown, 28, currently plays for the 7-23 Toronto Raptors. His expiring contract for this season is $23 million. Lopez, who turns 37 in April, earns the exact same salary, making for an optimal one-on-one deal for the short-handed Bucks.
It would be a hard decision for the Bucks to accept this trade proposal if it involved Lopez, who has been a pillar of their defense for half a decade.
Moreover, the Bucks no longer seem as desperate after turning things around, including winning the NBA Cup.
Bruce Brown was first linked to the Milwaukee Bucks in July
Brown was first linked to the Bucks in July of this year by NBA insider Kevin O’Connor described him as a great fit for Milwaukee who was then trying to have a more versatile defense style.
Like Levine, Lopez will be a victim.
Trading Brook Lopez for Brown is a perfect salary match, and then the Raptors could move Lopez elsewhere. The amount of showing and cutting Brown could do in support of Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard would be great to watch.
There is no clear interest from the Bucks at this time.
But they are actually interested, they have to make a move because the Sacramento Kings, San Antonio Spurs, Los Angeles Lakers and his former team The Nuggets are also interested.
