Sarah Franklin, currently an alumna of the Wisconsin Badgers volleyball team, was recently announced as a finalist for the 2025 Honda Sport Volleyball Award. She was also nominated for the award last year, but currently only one other contestant in the show’s history has won it.
What is the Honda Sport Award?
Each year, the Collegiate Women Sports Awards (CWSA) are awarded to 12 athletes who excelled in their respective sports. Finalists are selected based on votes collected from more than 1,000 NCAA administrators. The award winner then becomes a finalist for the Collegiate Woman Athlete of the Year award.
Who are the 2025 Honda Sport Award finalists?
In addition to Sarah Franklin from the Wisconsin Badgers, three other players were finalists in volleyball. Pittsburgh’s Olivia Babock, Kentucky’s Brooklyn DeLeye and Nebraska’s Lexi Rodriguez were nominated.
Sarah Franklin is looking to become the second Honda Sport Award winner for the Wisconsin Badgers
Last year, Sarah Franklin finished second in the Honda Sport Award, with Texas’ Madisen Skinner winning. Dana Rettke is the only other winner for the Badgers, as she was recognized for her efforts within the program during the 2021 season. On paper, Franklin statistically improved many of her numbers from last season, so she has a very good chance of winning the award.
