Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic has found an ally in Damian Lillard when it comes to his youth advocacy efforts after the Milwaukee Bucks supported his statement regarding pressure on children.
On his Instagram accountLess than 24 hours after the win over the Spurs, Lillard reposted a quote from Doncic criticizing the pressure older generations put on children who dream of becoming athletes.
“Big, big facts. This is a problem,” he said in the repository.
What did Doncic say? Doncic didn’t mention anyone in particular, but he is very concerned about how pressure is taking away from kids’ enjoyment of basketball and other sports because they are be treated like professionals at a adolescent age.
Children are moving away from basketball and other sports because we have replaced joy with pressure. When we treat adolescent players like professionals, we lose the friendship, development and fun that make sports unique. This has to change.
The quote is said to be related to the Dallas star’s efforts to promote sports among youth.
The Luka Doncić Foundation has created a sports council composed of the most outstanding basketball players of different generations, whose goal is to educate children and youth through sports.

It’s great to see established NBA players using their platform to create a better sports environment for the next generation.
In 2018, Lillard launched the RESPECT program This was intended to encourage adolescent people to show greater respect for people at all stages of life. The program also focuses on education to aid escalate the number of graduates.

Lillard has won the NBA Cares Community Assist Award multiple times for his contributions to the community through philanthropy, charity work and other initiatives.
